I kept my I-Phone close during the month of December and took pictures to show what happened in my world. I then put together this digital layout. Fun, fun, fun!!!

Canvas Frames = Mini Tabletop Albums

This was a really fun project. I took two 8x10 canvas' and started creating hinged albums for Christmas pictures.

First I painted the edges and inside the back side of the frames.
Second I cut paper to fit each section and adhered it with Modge Podge
These steps are time consuming because everything has to dry.

I took page protectors for 6x6 albums and created mini albums to fit snug into the inner part of the frame. I did have to cut the width down to fit.
I used chipboard to make the album base and then used brads to hold it all together. Used coordinating papers to create pages.

I printed up some Christmas song lyrics and added those and some flowers to create something special.

These attach together with a hinge and you have an instant album that can be left open or stored away on a book shelf. Have fun and creating something wonderful. The possibilities are endless

New Year and New Goals

I have to say that there is so much on my mind. Some things I can share and others that I can't. Change is looming - I am optimistic that it will all be good. One thing I have not done enough of, is creating. I have so much to do and so many great tools to use and I am missing this key component of who I am.
So, watch here and I will show you the cool things I am creating and also review the tools I use. So many times we have things we never use cause we don't know how to or we just don't use them.
My first goal is to get this area I call a craft room in order so that get down to just creating.
I will show some before and after shots of how all this came together and hope to inspire others in their creative space.
That being said, some major health issues still loom and a medicine adjustment can make life hard but as long as I can create and share, then I am a happy girl.
Would love to hear about what you all are working on and what does 2012 hold for you. First thing to do is create an idea journal to keep notes of ideas when they spark. Creating is my word - just keep creating.

My Time at Inspiration Unlimited #3

Saturday morning started off bright and early with a class with Teresa Collins. It was a travel binder and is so much fun. Going to use it for the Grand Canyon. That trip deserves many albums for sure. Love the class, but was tired and body was failing me. Sit back relax and enjoy the fun cause it was the last day of IU and I wanted to take it all in.

Janet and Renee were my tablemates and we had a great time

So blessed for this awesome giveaway from ProvoCraft - Love it. It is actually a cartridge I had wanted so how fun to get it as a gift.

We went outside for a group photo - Dazziling Diva's ROCK!!!
What a great group of ladies.

The next class was with Joey from Bazzill. We made a delightful album and I love it. So much fun. Joey was so fun and so full of energy. I really enjoyed getting to know her. That class even now still makes me smile.

Dave kept busy handing out goodies to each class. He enjoyed being on the prize patrol. Ginger kept him busy. Thanks Ginger for letting him help.

This is my paint can partner - Michelle. I had so much fun with her can. Mine is supposed to be here sometime soon.

The last class was with Layle and we did 2 layouts. They were so cool and loved everything about them, I love the class and had a great time. I am trying to decide what photos to use. I loved having Layle as a teacher again. She is so fun and love her attitude. Thanks Layle.

Through the day my body just fought me. I was so tired and every muscle was so fatiqued. I just sat and worked but was so slow. My hands were so cramped and it made me so mad. I hate what this disease does to my body and hate that some days that I can't keep up. At the end of the day, Dave met me in class and took my stuff up to the room and we went to dinner at the food court. I knew if I walked to the room then I would not be able to go back down. After dinner we were able to go in and sit down in the room for the closing ceremonies. The bonus of husband who was helping out. I know that we got looks and some get an attitude, but hey I would rather stand in line and have no disease then be forced to find a seat before I fall down. That was hard for me because I hate it when others can tell that I am not doing well and that night the pain was more then I could bare. Funny thing is I was more rested on this trip then the year before and my body behaved worse, bad body. I say all this because sometimes things are given to some because of issues in their lives. It isn't that it is unfair it is more that it is a gesture to make their life easier. Pain and disease sometimes can be unbearable and a small gesture means alot. Try to see the whole picture, not just what you are missing in life. Be grateful that you don't have to deal with diseases that cripple your body. Just sayin'

The keynote speaker was Jill Strasburg and wow her story is unbelievable. She inspired me in so many ways. If you don't know about Jill then check out her website http://thestrasburgfamily.blogspot.com/ You will be inspired and hey it is always good to remember we are all special no matter who we are or what we look like.

All in all an awesome event and so glad that I could attend again. Thank you Ginger and Teresa for another awesome year. You both are the best.

Back to the room, time to pack it up and get ready to go home. This is the car all packed up with my treasures and we left. Car doesn't seem to be as full - humm what did I bring with me LOL

We went to this fun restaurant for breakfast. This coffee cake was to die for. So yummy. We actually brought some home

We finished breakfast and got on the road. Another trip done and a great event with my scrapping friends. I had a hard time recouping my strength but it was well worth it. I loved it and can't wait till next year.

Cricut Montly Contest - October

I created this for my mom. I used Best Creations Haunted House papers. I used Cricut cartridges Chic and Scary plus Flower shop. Used an 11x14 frame and had fun adding a Girl's Paperie charm along with bling and tulle. She decided to hang it out on the front porch so everyone can see it.

My time at Inspiration Unlimited #2

After a good nights sleep, I was up bright and early to start the day. Unfortunately my body wanted to fight me but I won. At least we were able to stay in our group room and the teachers came to us. That definitely made it easier. Friday morning started off with a class by Janet Hopkins. I have to say that I really like her. She is one of the nicest people I have met and we have connected with some similar things in our lives. She was sick but made it for Thursday and Friday and went back home. I am sorry that she won't be there next year because I really enjoyed her class this year and next. Guess I will just have to keep up with her. Thanks Janet for a great class!!!

This was a fun class because we did a book called The Story of Us but made our own bindings. Very cute and useful idea

The next class was with Teresa Collins and it was a fun book using her Notations line. A-Z all about me. Book is together but have to start filling it in. I am looking forward to getting it done. We used the Provocraft Book Maker and it was lots of fun.

Dave volunteered to help Ginger this year. He was on the prize patrol and loved it.

The final class for the day was with Amber Packer and we did 2 layouts using My Minds Eye product. I love the glitter and flowers of both layouts. They were both awesome.

Friday night was a crop and free make and takes from the vendors at the event. It was a fun night but was tired so back to the room to relax and get ready for Saturday.
One highlight of the night was Dave. He found a flower that my friend Melannie had lost, we were given them at registration and he put it in his hair. Actually wore it till we found out that it was Melannie's.
Even with little hair, it managed to stick.

I did have some time to talk to my secret sister April Berg. She gave to me and I gave to her. We had a great time. Thanks April for all the great goodies. You are the best.

My time at Inspiration Unlimited #1

Two weeks ago I was in Henderson, Nevada for Inspiration Unlimited. We left on Wednesday September 21st in the morning with the attempt to make it in time for a group dinner at the resort buffet.
Well what was supposed to be a 7 hour journey became a 9.5 hour trip due to road distruction LOL. With the lupus and what all it does to my body, that proved to be a very long and tiring trip. With having to sit for that long my legs and other parts of my body hurt badly.
We finally arrived stopped and had dinner at Claim Jumper and then checked in. The Green Valley Resort is absolutely beautiful but you expect that in the Las Vegas area.

Thursday morning began with breakfast with my friend Karen and then we were off to play in Amy Coon's Technique Journal class. What fun it was, we got to make a mess and I must admit I LOVED IT!!!!! I am looking forward to continuing with it. Thanks Amy for an awesome class.

Next was a great class by Imaginisce. We made this Christmas flip album what was so delightful. I still need to finish it and then buy more of the flip frames from IKEA, it is so cute. I was blessed to sit by my friend Janet Kapke, we had a great time. On top of that huge blessing of a great class, as I was leaving the teacher knowing that we traveled by car, handed me all the left over paper and such from the class - wow that was great cause I loved the paper. I was able to take out what I wanted and then many of my friends were able to have some too. It was so cool, what a great blessing. Thank you so much Imaginisce for the great products and great class. I almost forgot I also won a prize of travel embellishments too.

At this point Dave is taking some ladies to 2 of the local scrapbook stores plus Hobby Lobby. They had so much fun but I opted to stay back at the hotel instead of going shopping cause I could tell that my body just needed to rest. Though I finished working on gifts for my friends at IU, it was still relaxing and much needed down time. I get so frustrated with this disease because no matter what I do, I pay a price pain wise and it seems so unfair.

This is my work area, I finished up gifts for my friends and they all came to my room to get their albums and other goodies. It really was a fun afternoon.

Dave helped Ginger in the onsite store and had a blast. This was after doing 2 rounds of shopping tours with a group of 12 ladies. They all loved him. I finally made it downstairs and my legs were beginning to give out. The burning and the pain is so hard and at one point he spotted me and told me to sit down. He could tell that I was going to fall down and so I sat. He went and got me a cold drink, he really tried to take care of me but could tell on day two that my body was beginning to fight me and that is not fun.

After getting my registration goodies, visiting with the teachers in a meet and greet, I had one more extra class with ProvoCraft. OH my that was just the bestest experience. Not only did we create a fabulous clipboard, they gave us many Cuttlebug embossing folders and it was just plain fun. My friend Janet was with me and we really enjoyed the time there. They were giving away a Cricut Cake, a Cricut Imagine and a Cricut Expression 2. The clipboard we made had papers from Teresa Collins Black and White cartridge and were so cool, oh I so wanted to win the Imagine. But truth be told, I don't have room for it but a girl can still want. Well I didn't win it and that was OK cause I am sure the lady who did was going to love it too. Then came the drawing for the E2 - guess whose name they called - yep me. I was so happy but heres the thing I already had one. I got it in May when they first came out and I LOVE IT!!!! So, I said to please draw another name because I had one. To my amazement the teacher - Shannon then said well then I will give you a $200 credit on Cricut.com. WOW was not expecting that, I just felt I wanted someone else to have the E2 cause I don't need 2 of them. So once again God blessed me and I was very grateful Thanks Shannon and thanks Provocraft, you all rock.

Class got out at 9:30 and Dave finished up helping Ginger and met me at the class to carry all my stuff up to the room. The rest of the evening was quiet. Took my pain meds and then off to bed, going to be an early morning. What is so hard about events like this, is the fact I really enjoy them but my body has its own agenda. So that being said, first day of extra classes, proved to be a great day, so all in all I was thrilled to be there and with all my friends.

The Journey........

In 1997, my life took a turn. How is it that I can have Lupus. Lupus was a disease that I heard about and people died from it. How is it with no family history do I have this horrible disease. It is one of those diseases that the medicines used to treat it are at times worse than the disease itself. A co-worker told me the day that I was diagnosed that her friends mom had it and it went to her mom's brain and she died. Lupus killed her. I had that in my head for so long and actually made the journey harder. It scared me, what was this thing that had violated my body and what was it going to do to me.
This disease over the last 14 years has defined me, ruled my life and kept me hostage. The ramifications of what it does to each body part at times make life so incredibly hard. In 2000, my doctor started me on steriods. These little pills do alot of good but wreak havoc on your body. Long term use causes weight gain along with a myriad of other unpleasant side effects. The dose at the beginning was 32 mg and throughout the past 11 years it has been a challenge to get me off of them. Easier said then done. At the beginning of the year I was down to 4 mg a day - it has taken me 2 years of gradual decreases to get down that far. So in April when we learned that Medrol was pulled off the market (no one knows why) I was thrown into crisis mode because I was going to have to get off of them and quickly. Well thank God my pharmacy had enough pills to take me to December but each decrease is only 1 mg at a time and every other day at that, I am finally at 1 mg daily. Each decrease brings pain, sickness and extreme fatique. Who would have thought that a little pink pill could have that much influence on your body. It is hard because it is taking me 4-6 weeks to get through each decrease. But I press on because I have to get 100% off of them. Lupus has been an enemy to me, brought things into my life that are physically, mentally and emotionally challenging.
Since being diagnosed, I have made friends with many who deal with the trials of auto immune diseases, tried to be supportive of others dealing with these issues and daily strive to not let this disease take me down. Some times are easier than others. Some days getting out of bed is a challenge and other nights the pain keeps me up. The medicines are there to help but it is tough. The journey is long, it is hard and sometimes impossible but I know with God's help each day I will make it through and my reward at the end of this life will be eternity with God and pain free. I am looking forward to that. In the past year, I have met others who are on this journey. At times I don't know what to say, I can only say that I am sorry to hear that because it is so unbelievably hard but with others walking along beside you, it somehow makes it easier. My prayer is that God allows me enough time on this earth to encourage others in their journey and let them see that life does go on and the disease is not necessarily the end of the journey but it might well be the beginning.

Sunday September 4th- I am grateful for barbeque hamburgers and home made fries on a warm summer night - yum
Monday September 5th- I am grateful for the anticipation of seeing my scrapbooking friends in a couple weeks.
Tuesday September 6th - I am grateful that all my family and friends are safe but mourning for all those who were murdered this morning in Carson City. Very sad day for our community.
Wednesday September 7th - I am grateful that through it all God is in control but day is hard - so much sadness in our community.
Thursday Septermber 8th - Everything is focused on the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 and the brutal killings in Carson City - things are so sad. I am grateful for my family and friends.
Friday September 9th- I am grateful for the Balloon Races, somehow watching the balloons is a great way to calm my soul

Saturday August 13th - I am grateful that my great nephew was born today. Welcome to the world Tarrence.
Sunday August 14th - I am grateful that I survived new windows 2011
Monday August 15th - I am grateful for all the great pictures that I have and am looking at tonight
Tuesday August 16th - I am grateful for my mom who is always there for me.
Wednesday August 17th - I am grateful that Emma is home and OK, she was very sick last night and this morning. I was very worried about her. Kings Row Vets ROCK!!!!
Thursday August 18th - I am grateful that we didn't lose Emma tonight. She took a turn for the worse and is at Animal Emergency Hospital for the night. I wasn't ready to lose her yet.
Friday August 19th - I am grateful that after spending the day at Kings Row (had to pick her up at Animal Emergency and take her to her vet in the morning.) on an IV all day, Emma is was able to eat and keep it down. She gets to come home tonight and hopefully we have the worst of this behind us. I do know that next time the outcome won't be the same, but for right now I am going to cherish every moment I have with my girl.

Funny thing is - I AM SICK NOW. If you have an auto immune disease - I feel you pain. So on this night of what am I grateful for - I am grateful that some nights I don't have to pretend all is well cause I am so sick still.

Cricut Layouts and instructions

I am very busy and loving it. The chance to create and have fun is becoming my daily indulgence. I am taking some classes on Big Picture Scrapbooking, entering contests on Crop Chocolate and also on a Facebook community called : Cricut Craft Room Go check it out and tell Erica that Faye sent you. She is giving away a Mini Cricut Cake to one of her friends once she reaches 1000 friends. I am also so blessed to join her Design Team and I get to create fun things for Erica to showcase. It is a great group of ladies, stop by if you have a chance. Then I attended an all day crop Michaels on Saturday and then this Saturday I get to go to another one - so since M312ay is National Scrapbook Month - I am making sure I do just that. SCRAPBOOK!!!!

I entered this layout in a 2 contests - so far it has won one of the contests. Prize is a Cricut Plushie - yeah because I really wnated one of those little guys.

To create this layout - I first off bought the supplies to create my custom ribbon from Michaels. Making Memories has a new line called Bravisimo. I used black shiny paper and gold glitter paper to create the perfect title and photo mats and stars for the Hollywood Stars.
I cut eight 4x6 mats for the photos
Usint the Birthday Cake cartridge I cut out the letters at 1.5 inches and the stars at 1 inch. The stars are in the lower right corner when you hit the shift key and appear as a strand of 5 stars. I cut six sets to put on the page and create the middle border.
I just put it all together to create a glittery layout that is very Hollywood.

This layout is just fun. I am working on the photos of when we went to Arizona in 2009. Route 66 is the topic right now so all layouts and creations seem to revolve around that. Anyhow, the challenge to use pennants for Big Picture Scrapbooking and then use only the function keys on any Cricut Cartridge got me going.
This is how I created it: I used the Cricut cartridge "Country Life"
Pennants were 2 inches high, Simple Pleasures word is 3 inches high and letters are 1.5 inch high
Photo corners are from Jasmine and are 1 inch high
It is just a fun way to showcase photos.

This layout is the map of stops along Route 66. Since the paper already had its own border, I cut the map in half and attached it to the paper. I cut one inch letters with a border and created the title. I also created a pocket in back to hold all my brochures and such to keep them together.

These final 2 layouts are just ones I created at the crop. Enjoy and thanks for coming by.

Paper Roses Necklace + Pet Brag Book

It was a fun day today for creating. I am apart of a fun group of ladies who love to create with their Cricuts and today there was a challenge to create something with flowers and a Mothers Day gift. If you haven't joined "Erica's Room" on Facebook, you need to check it out
So being that I am a mom to a bunch of furr kids, I decided to make me a tag brag book. This is the finished creation. Now I need to add their pictures.

So here are the instructions for making the rolled paper roses that I transformed into a necklace. This was my first attempt so hopefully I can make this clearer then mud.
I used my Cricut and cut 5 circles. One at 5 inches, two at 4 inches and two at 3 inches.

Next using scissors I transformed the circles into spirals. Note the center you need to leave some room to lay your rolled flower on, the center becomes the bottom

If you want to add shading on the edge now is the time to do it.

Starting at the outer edge, start rolling the paper tightly. Go all the way to the middle, stopping just short of the center.

This is what it will look like after you are done rolling it.

Apply glue (I used Crystal Effects) to the center and set the bottom half of the flower on the base. Allow the flower to losen up to your liking and then push the base and the flower together and hold till the glue sets.

This is what your flower will look like after it has set and losened up. Make your flowers as tight or lose as you wish. Just don't let go of the flower until you are sure the glue has set and it will not unravel. It takes about a minute.

Now I chose to make my flowers into a necklace, but the possiblities are endless. Have fun and happy creating.

Disney Autograph Books

These are two fun autograph books that I made for myself and Treion for our Girlfriends Escape Weekend to Disneyland. We actually filled them with autographs, it was a blast. Both were done on my Cricut and were 5.5 inches tall. Have fun!!!

Disney Tab Album Instructions

OK everyone, here are the instructions. I hope you make one for yourself and please share if you do.

The Cricut cartridges that I used were : Mickey and Friends and Mickey Font

Page sizes are: 2x4, 4x4, 6x4, 8x4, 10x4 and 12x4
Each page is covered front and back with cardstock.

Mickey heads I used as tabs were 4 inches. Cut 2 for each page
Letters on tags were 2.5 inches
Mickey Star - 3 inches
Minnie Heart - 2.5 inches
Goofy Sign - 2 inches
Pluto Bone - 2 inches
Pluto Hydrant - 2.5 inches
Donald Blast - 2.5 inches
Daisy Flower - 2 inches
Mickey Head - 3.5 inches
Minnnie Head - 3.5 inches

Goofy Head - 3.5 inches

I used Disney, flower and tag punches to add accents. Mats were cut to go on respective pages.

Journal Excercise - Not my best work

Have you ever thought to yourself that the creative project you're working on "isn't your best"? If that's true... then take a moment and write this down:
I am my own worst critic. I love to create but there are definitely things that I have made that I was so unhappy about :( My latest was some page swaps that I was in for Inspiration Unlimited. I didn't do my best work and will be rectifying it soon. The pages need more embellishing and one of the cricut shapes needs to be redone. I figure if I redo the pieces and send them to the other participants then at least I made it right.

what IS your personal best?
I created pictures that say "Create" for myself and my friends to hang in our craft rooms. Banners, flowers and Cricut cut letters gave it a professional touch. Everyone loved them and that is all that mattered. I love mine too

What project have you made that other people liked the most?
I try to make all the gifts I give. The Create pictures and photo albums made with canvas created lots of happy friends.

What is your BEST idea in your brain right now, that you've not yet gotten to make?
I really love the swags made with holiday or inspirational words. I am planning on making more to hang in the entryway between my rooms. Funny I always have things floating around in my head and the only thing that comes to mind is doing the banners.

Journaling Excercise - A Routine

Sometimes routines become rituals. Animals are great about keeping you on track. Before moving in with my mom, I would be the go to person for their breakfast each morning. I would get up, put my contacts in, brush my teeth and then head to the kitchen to take my morning meds. But as I was heading down the hall, all 3 dogs immediately went to the kitchen because with 3 labs it would be necessary to give them their breakfast before I took my meds. They would come in and sit in front of me and leave with their tails wagging as soon as their tummies were happy.
In our new home we are one less dog and now grandma gives them their breakfast. They are perfectly fine with getting their morning treats from her so now it is no longer one of my routines and I kind of miss it.

Journaling Excercise - Oh no I didn't

OK what have I done that I got away with? Humm I have to say nothing is coming to mind but for some reason my mind is taking me back 30 years to college. You know I was such a stinker and always up for a practical joke. From tainting brownies with a dye that would make the guys pee blue to finding alternative uses for toilet paper, I seem to be quite mischevious at times. I did have fun and my dorm room and car also received their fair share of TP. The guys also doused the door jam to our dorm with skunk oil after the brownie attack after that the dorm parents called off the chemical warfare. The worst thing that happened to me from toilet papering a car was being thrown in a swimming pool and then slipping and breaking my knee cap in 3 places. So the last 2 months of my senior year were spent on crutches and in physical therapy to heal my leg. Did I learn my lesson? Nope I never seem to outgrow TPing cars and yards. Hey it was fun.

Journal Prompt – The Big Game
February 5, 2011
The Super Bowl has many memories for me. I am not a big football fan and all I really get is TOUCHDOWN!!! But I love to watch a great game. While living in San Jose, I became a 49er fan and loved rooting them on.
When the Super Bowl was at Stanford University in 1985 – the Niners played the Dolphins. My friend Debbie and I went to Chilis for dinner and due to poor planning we got caught in some horrific traffic. We laughed so hard cause we didn’t think we were anywhere close to the game, but in the Bay Area everyone uses I-280.
In 1989 – the Niners played Cincinnati and I had a big ole Super Bowl party at my house. Was trying to impress a guy. That didn’t work so well but I made a cake in the shape of a Niners helmet and one in the shape of a football. We had lots of friends including my now brother in law and my best friend Cheryl who became my sister in law and my precious nephew Michael who was only a couple months old at the time. The girls who worked with me were there also. It was a great afternoon and one I do remember fondly.
That was pretty much the only party that I have thrown or gone too. Now the Super Bowl is on in the house and we all watch it. We love the commercials too.
Yesterday, mom and I watched the whole game. It was fun to see the Packers win. They played a good game. My favorite commercial was the Volkswagen one with Darth Vader – too cute.
Super Bowls hold good memories for me but for me it is just a time to share in something fun with those you love.

Sweet Dreams Baby Girl

2010 almost ended with no more loss. But no, one more came my way. Found her laying on the bed and it didn't look good. Somehow I knew when I went to get the kitty carrier, that I wasn't bringing her back home. She was fine a couple days ago, how can all the sudden she be dying.

We stood there with her and we said goodbye at 10:00 p.m. 2010 had one more loss to deal me and honestly I am defeated. Why, why, why.

So to my sweet Sauci, you were my sweet baby girl. Saucer Muffin, Sauceroo, Sauci Sue, Slug, Slugbutt and other sweet names we would call out and you were always there.

Giving your daddy kisses, chewing on our fingers, licking our face and sleeping on my hip you were always right there with us. For 16.5 years you made my day complete.

To realize the 2011 will begin without you is just so unfair.

Go find Belle, Micki and Coco Puff - you all can play together again.

I love you sweet girl and will miss you terribly.

My Worst Fears............

This year has been on of those that can be recorded as "My Worst Fears" Over the past months things have happened that would definitely be ones I was fearful of. Now that I am through them and survived, they are no longer fears but victories that I made it through.
1. I was a afraid that Dave would lose his position of 10 years. Well he did, he was fired and with that there was a downward spiral of other fears. He is working part time and we are hoping for a full time job soon.
2. We would lose our house. We did but on our terms. We did a short sale and though it was tough, we still had a place to live and that is all that matters. Still hard to look at the other house but I do and the pain is getting easier to handle. Still working on getting settled at home.
3. Loss of medical insurance is the scariest thing. With multiple health issues stemming from Lupus, having no insurance is terrifying. Well with medicare and medicare advantage plans, there is some coverage and trusting God that situation will be remedied soon.
4. Loss of one of our dogs. We lost Belle in March. We got her when we got the house and losing her along with the house was beyond painful. I am really not over that but each day gets easier.
5.Epidural shots happened before the year began to deal with nerve issues in my legs. I was always terrified of the thought of an epidural but hey guess what, I survived.
6. Another fear was something catastrophic happening to Jodi. Well we have made it through 2 seizure episodes, multiple doctor visits, an ER visit and and EEG. I pray for her safety and am trusting to protect her.
7. My biggest fear came to life in August and it took me days to get past it. I did and now it isn't has scary. Still serious but scary is gone.

Life is full of bad and hard times. Loss is part of the cycle but looking back, it was hard but I survived. I like to think that God just carried me through. It has left me with a few war wounds but thank God I survived.

2011 needs to be a fresh start and calmer. It is time to bring order back into my world and share with other all the great ways God saw me through
Happy New Year to everyone and remember fears can be overcome, all you have to do is trust that God will see you through. I just have to keep reminding myself of that God will see you through and look back on how He did just that

Thanksgiving and Sorrow

Those are 2 words that probably don't go well together. During this month of Thanksgiving, I have so many things to be thankful for but my heart is so full of sorrow and they seem to conflict.

I am thankful that I am home and I have a roof over my head. Best yet I am living with my mom and sister so that is awesome. But sorrow comes in going past my old house and the loss hurts so much. The house is now a rental and today I saw a fall wreath on the front screen door. It really made me sad, that was my door and that is where my wreath belonged. Yikes that really stings but I am hoping that my heart will get past it. I know you are saying "don't drive by the house" well that is easier said then done and if it was you, you would drive by too.

I lost one of my dogs in March and now my Emma is hurt. Vet appointment tomorrow and I really need prayers for her and for me. Animal Emergency visit this weekend shows that the tendons in her knee have snapped. She is 13 and some major decisions are going to need to be made. I can't bear to lose her right now, but will do what is best for her. Thankful for an awesome vet.

Very thankful for knowledge and that God brought just the info back to my mind when needed. Almost losing Jodi on Thursday is still radiating throughout our family. So thankful that she is sitting here next to me, listening to the radio and just very content.

This was supposed to be a weekend of getting away and it did not happen. My friends are the best in the world and have been a constant source of support the past few days, actually everyday.

Since I was hoping for a quiet few days, I was hoping to create items for Teresa Collins to apply for her design team, participate in an online crop for www.ohmycrafts.com but both got put on the back burner and I opted to do nothing today other than answer emails and get caught up. My mind just needed the rest, no pressure.

I need to get back to creating, I need to focus on being thankful and trusting God to heal the hurt and anxious feelings. I need to lean on my friends and just realize that this past year is only a season in my life and I will be able to look back soon enough and see how many great ways God worked in my life.

So for today - I will focus on the things to be thankful for and there are many. I will not worry about making deadlines for online contests or trying to be on a Design Team and focus on one of my favorite verses Psalm 46:10 Be Still and Know that I am God. Really that is all that matters.

Milestones

Well today is the day to start anew.
I actually drove past the old house without crying today. It still hurts my heart but no tears today. Baby steps will get me through this.

I had an incredible time a couple weeks ago at Inspiration Unlimited, it was amazing and being with my friends only made it better. I will share on my blog soon.

I am going to The Crop for the Cure on Saturday and then Saturday night to church to hear Dave Drevecky speak. The theme is Does God allow suffering.

Going to work on my craft space this weekend, finish up the projects from IU and hey work on being me again.

I had to allow myself time to mourn, now it is time to go on being me.

Going to create and have fun, cause that is what I do best

Loss and the cruelty of fate..........

Been a hard year, one that brings me to tears alot.
October 5,2009 aside from being the 5th year mark of losing my sister in law, I overheard my husband talking to his brother and commenting on something from work that I was sure was going to cost him his job.
October 7, 2009 Dave was sent home on paid leave while the future of his job was to be decided.
October 12, 2009 Dave was fired - our whole life was turned upside down. The future of our home, medical insurance and financial well being was up in the air and to say that I was scared would be an understatement.

Fortunately COBRA was available but Dave needed to find another job and in this economy, it has become a tough challenge.

November 22, 2009 My mom's significant other dies suddenly and she needs us to move in with her and Jodi. She didn't want to be alone. So the process begins.

December, 2009 we put our house up for sale as a short sale.
Now on top of dealing with the day to day issues of Lupus, Neuropathy and Vasculitis, I need to pack up a 3 bedroom house, deal with realtors and get ready to condense my life into 2 bedrooms at mom's.
Storage units are rented and the work begins.

March, 2010 - Belle starts showing signs of struggling and on March 19th she is diagnosed with bone cancer.
March 24th - we lost her. Belle was our first dog. We got her as a puppy when we bought the house in 1998 and to lose her at this point was more than my heart could handle.

May 4th - we move into mom's house but there is still so much to do at our house.

The move continues, Dave works 2 part time jobs that don't seem to move to full time security with health insurance to cover my medical needs.

We owe $199,000 on the house and an offer comes in for $90,000. Realtor says we need to take it and the process begins to short sell our house.

The future of what Bank of America will do is still uncertain but on October 5, 2010 we signed escrow papers and on October 7, 2010 the house was no longer ours.

One year later, things are still in upheaval and my heart is sad.
The investor who bought our house had contractors there first thing Friday morning and my heart is so broken, losing insurance, losing Belle and losing the house have taken a toll on me and the tears just flow.

I am so grateful for what I have, I am home with with mom and Jodi, that is most important. Daisy and Emma have adapted well and the cats love their 2 bedrooms to play in.

Dave is working for Michaels, hoping for full time work with benefits. He applies for jobs continually.

God knows our needs, and He knows my hurt. I know He has me in His hands and is protecting me from alot of things. Loss has defined the last 12 months and I pray that we get a reprieve soon, as I really can't handle any more.

We take Emma to the vet on the 12th, concerned that the outcome will not be good as she is 13 and is having issues. I am braced the worst but praying for the best.

I will pick up the pieces and make the best of things. I didn't lose my home, my home is here. I am grateful for all I have and that I am not homeless. Grief is a tricky thing, it is something that you have to work through and trust God to guide you through.

Dates are just points in time, I just found it ironic that it began last year on October 5th and a year later I am still feeling the ripple effect.

Home Sweet Home ............ working on it

Well I did it, took a 3 bedroom house and condensed it into 2 bedrooms to make a bedroom, family room, craft room. We have our computer in the downstairs office, so that helped. Combined my kitchen stuff with mom's so basically everything found a home or is being donated or sold. This is not all with way done but close. Thought I would share how I put it all together.

The past couple of weeks have been hard. No one could have prepared me for the emotional toll of losing our house. It will close in about 2 weeks and mom and I have done 90% of the work. It has been frustrating at best but we have the house completely empty and some friends are helping mom and I on Monday to finish it up. I need to be done with this cause each time I go in there it is getting harder and harder.
So that being said, God had a plan and my friends from all over have blessed me beyond measure. On the days that were particulary hard, I would come home to some great treats.

My friend Florence sent me a card along with some fun ribbon - I love it. Want to get some more of it cause it is way too cool Thanks Florence see ya soon.

My friend Carol is always so thoughtful. She sent lots of bling - she is trying to bring out the Diva in me. Carol I love it all - thank you

Then there was one day when - wow you can see on the bed - lots of packages with lots of love

A Teresa Collins Stampmaker - oh wow this is going to be so much fun - I haven't had time to play yet but I will. I bought this for myself - I think I deserve it LOL. oops the Diva popped out.

Then a complete set of all the Creative Escape kits for 2010. It helps to have friends who were looking out for me. Thank you Carol helping secure this for me. Can't wait to start playing

So as you can see, blessings abound even when you are losing a house. My home is with Dave and my mom and Jodi. Our furbabies complete the package. All I know that I am rich in family and friendships and that is all that matters.

I am so blessed to do fun swaps with some new friends who are going to Inspiration Unlimited. Here is a paint can I received from Sandy Bobo - it is so much fun.
Here is the paint can and box full of goodies. Box was wrapped but had to open it - oh darn. I really do love this - all of it.

Here is the box full of goodies - oh how much fun is this? I love everything lots of good stuff. I love the cookbook - sew cute .

Here is what was in the can - lots and lots of goodies from ribbon to new cooking tools. So much fun and already has its place in the kitchen. Since we moved in with my mom, we are combining all of our stuff, so it was fun to have some new things to add to the kitchen

So I pulled out the potato peeler and my mom stated that it now belonged to her. She has him standing on the kitchen counter ready to give her a hand when potatos need to be peeled. I fondly referred to him as the Potato Minion. Hee hee hee

I had alot of fun going through all my goodies today. White Chocolate covered gummi bears are going to be a treat to eat. I love all the doodle work and the great things she made. The Burden Bear is the best and well worth sharing. She is so awesome about sending me encouraging thoughts and making my day.
